But just as they look forward to a promising future together, new danger arises -- and Brandon's very nature could threaten to tear them ruthlessly apart.

Excerpt  Dark Vengeance Part 1:

Lina had never seen Brandon so fully enthralled by the bloodlust before—not without him feeding from her or finding sexual release. It had left him exhausted, flustered and—she realized suddenly—frightened.
Because he’s never seen himself like this, either.
“Brandon,” she whispered, reaching up to press her palm to his cheek. God, he was burning up, his skin hot like the side of a glassworks furnace. “Feed from me.”
Don’t ask me that, he gasped, shaking his head. God, Lina, please. I can’t!
“Yes, you can,” she pleaded. “You have to try. This isn’t working.”
It has to! he cried. Shaking his head his head to dislodge her hand from his face, he then seized hold of her, locking his fingers through hers, pinning her hands down against the bed. You don’t understand, he seethed, his brows furrowed. He leaned down enough for her to see herself—her sudden, visible alarm—reflected in the obsidian pools of his eyes. This has to work—it has to. If I bite you now, I won’t be able to stop. Do you get it? Do you hear me? I won’t be able to stop myself!

Excerpt Dark Vengeance Part 2

Brandon lay spooned against Lina, his chest facing her back, the curves of her body resting in perfect complement with his own. Her hair, a tousled mess of dark, springy curls, tickled the underside of his nose. He had his hand draped lightly over the slim indention of her waist, his fingers loosely twined through hers.
I don’t understand this—any of it, Brandon thought. But he found he no longer had the heart to question it. Because this is what I want—you’re what I want, Lina, he thought, breathing in the scent of her perfume, and kissing her lightly through her hair. You’re what I need.
Although he was loath to leave her, he slowly drew free from their embrace and slipped out of bed. Leaving her curled on her side, her body draped in blankets, he pulled on a pair of jeans and a T-shirt. Grabbing his cell phone, Brandon padded softly toward the bedroom doorway. Here, he paused, glancing over his shoulder, watching as she dozed, cat-like and comfortable, in a sunbeam.
God, you’re beautiful, he thought, the corners of his mouth lifting in a soft smile. I want this every day, for the rest of my life. I want you.
He wandered through the chateau, and everything was just as he remembered. It had come pre-furnished, courtesy of the Morins, but Lina had added her own touches here and there to the décor: a tabletop sculpture of a moose made from old paint cans, springs and cogs in the living room bought during an outing to an art gallery with Tessa; a framed photograph of her and Brandon taken outside one of the gaudy casino exteriors on the Nevada side of the lake; a bowl of giant pinecones—each bigger than a softball—she’d collected from the yard outside. He gazed out the bay windows in the living room and found everything outside just as he’d known it, too—flawless azure sky, clustered stands of towering evergreen trees, the distant but distinct cerulean plane of Emerald Bay below.
It was a beautiful place, a peaceful place, and as it always did, it made Brandon feel at ease simply to be there, bearing mute witness to its splendor.
He sat down on the couch and looked down at the cell phone in his hand. Again, it occurred to him—floating to mind, as if something rancid bobbing briefly to the surface in a murky pond—that the phone was supposed to be lost.
When Jackson moved out of his mother’s house in Florida, he thought. His head hurt, a sudden burst, a throbbing ache just behind his eyes, and with a frown, he pinched the bridge of his nose. Only I didn’t go to Florida. So I couldn’t have lost my phone there. Besides… He opened his eyes, blinking down at the iPhone in his hand. …I have it right here. That’s proof I didn’t lose it.
He opened his messages as Lina had done, and felt his heart quicken with excitement as he saw Sebastian’s name and number pop up. If losing his phone had been just a dream, then…
Then losing my dad must’ve been one, too, he thought, tapping on the touchscreen keypad, and typing a message: Hey, Dad—are you busy?
For a long moment, he couldn’t send the message, even though he knew it was ridiculous to hesitate. The idea that Sebastian was gone had been so powerful and poignant within him; to realize now that he wasn’t, that Brandon could have another chance—countless chances—to talk to him, text him, interact with him was damn near overwhelming.
But almost as soon as he pressed send, the phone vibrated in his hand, not because Sebastian’s response had been so quickly forthcoming, but because a dialogue box had appeared onscreen: Signal lost. Message not sent. Please try again.
What? With a frown, Brandon held up the phone: no bars, no signal, no reception. He rose to his feet and walked closer to the windows, but still had no luck. He moved around the house, going from room to room; he turned the phone off and on again, but no matter what he tried, he couldn’t get a transmission signal. Shrugging on a lightweight jacket, he stepped out onto the deck to see if the reception was any better. But it wasn’t.
Damn it, Brandon thought with a deepening frown, as he glared, frustrated, at the impotent phone in his hand. It had apparently worked last night—there was the conversation he’d had with his father right there on the screen to prove it. But still, Brandon had no memory of that conversation, not even the distant, dream-like sort in which Sebastian had died, or that he had lost his cell phone. That utter lack of memory did more than trouble Brandon. It pained him.
Because I feel cheated somehow, he thought, as ridiculous as it sounded. He felt desperate now to get in touch with Sebastian, to prove to himself that this was reality, and everything else—all of the half-memories bobbing and percolating in the back of his mind—were dreams. I want to talk to my dad. Even if it’s only through a stupid goddamn text, I want to talk to…
All at once, Brandon’s attention snapped from the phone in his hand to the woods, his brows narrowing, his entire body growing instantly tense. He could sense another Brethren, that distinctive, tingling sensation that meant another like him was nearby. Normally at the Morin compound, this wouldn’t have alarmed him because the only ones there were Brethren. But in that moment, as he felt that unmistakable awareness of other Brethren within his proximity, he realized he hadn’t been feeling it all along as he’d grown accustomed. It was like the entire area was completely empty, at least of other vampires—until now.
Below him, through the tangle of trees, Brandon saw him, a Brethren man looking up at the bungalow—most specifically, at Brandon. His eyes were a clear, nearly lucent shade of blue, like the waters of Lake Tahoe. He reached for Brandon as if desperately imploring, his fingers splayed wide, and his arm had been stripped of any visible flesh, flayed so that the bright red meat of his muscles lay gruesomely exposed. Blood spattered in fat droplets onto the floor and the stark white sheets beneath him were stained scarlet.
Please… the man gasped, and Brandon knew his face, his eyes—his name.
Aaron.
Please… Aaron begged, his eyes glassy with pain, wide with alarm. Don’t…!

Waking Up Dead by Margo Bond Collins Promo

I'd like to welcome Waking Up Dead by Margo Bond Collins to my blog.
Hope you all enjoy the excerpt!

Blurb

When Dallas resident Callie Taylor died young, she expected to go to Heaven, or maybe Hell. Instead, when she met her fate early thanks to a creep with a knife and a mommy complex, she went to Alabama. Now she's witnessed another murder, and she's not about to let this one go. She's determined to help solve it before an innocent man goes to prison. And to answer the biggest question of all: why the hell did she wake up dead in Alabama?

Excerpt

When I died, I expected to go to heaven.
Okay. Maybe hell. It’s not like I was perfect or anything. But I was sort of hoping for heaven.
Instead, I went to Alabama.
Yeah. I know. It’s weird.
I died in Dallas, my hometown. I was killed, actually. Murdered. I’ll spare you the gruesome details. I don’t like to remember them myself. Some jerk with a knife--and probably a Bad-Mommy complex. Believe me, if I knew where he was, I’d go haunt his ass.
At any rate, by the time death came, I was ready for it--ready to stop hurting, ready to let go. I didn’t even fight it.
And then I woke up dead in Alabama. Talk about pissed off.
You know, even reincarnation would have been fine with me--I could have started over, clean slate and all that. Human, cow, bug. Whatever. But no. I ended up haunting someplace I’d never even been.
That’s not the way it’s supposed to work, right? Ghosts are supposed to be the tortured spirits of those who cannot let go of their earthly existence. If they could be convinced to follow the light, they’d leave behind said earthly existence and quit scaring the bejesus out of the poor folks who run across them. That’s what all those “ghost hunter” shows on television tell us.
Let me tell you something. The living don’t know jack about the dead.
Not this dead chick, anyway.

BLURB:

Can the ultimate choice be made if saving your race means destroying the one you love?
At the beginning of the twenty-first century of our era a millennia long war between two immortal races was coming to an end. The Vampire Elite, the strongest among vampires, forced the race of immortal beings, the Amiti to become their blood suppliers, called bloodstock, locking them in their underground cells and treating them like livestock. The surviving free Amiti make a final attempt to strike back. The Queen of Amiti is proclaimed a traitor and is executed. Her death signifies the rise of a new Queen, her young daughter Arianna who becomes the last hope of her dying race. Arianna totally embraces her mission and is ready to fight for her people to the last drop of her blood but encounters an unexpected challenge—the vampire King Tor. They both are captured into a trap of love where they had to make an ultimate choice; to kill the loved one or to let their races die.

Vampire Elite is the epic story of a bitter conflict between two peoples, and the effect of that conflict on everyone living in its grip. The characters are driven to love and betrayal, vengeance and sacrifice in a world without easy black-and-white answers.

Based on an ancient Egyptian legend, packed with action and intrigue, Vampire Elite will pull you into the entrancing world of immortals and open new portals into their hidden universe.

What do you think you’re really bad at?

Housekeeping …I detest it..Jo-An

Well, not realllly bad.Still trying to understand English Metaphors, I still take a lot of things literally, spelling is not one of my best suits and verb conjugation is still a challenge. I was born and raised in Russia. The influence of the Russian language is strong. If it were not for Jo-An and Laura, our editor, this book would never have gone farther than being a dream to becoming a reality .. Irina

Is your life anything like it was two years ago?

Not even close – two years ago I had a costume shop and 8000 square feet of merchandise, plus designed and created original costumes. I had no employees, but some of my customers helped out when they could. I was working 15 to 18 hours a day, 7 days a week, taking some week-ends off to go water-skiing- I put on theater productions for GLBT Charity Groups handling all of the costumes, recruiting, script and production.

Now I spend a lot of time working on these books and traveling in our RV. Reading, going to movies, spending time with my husband and taking cruises…Jo-An

It is changing now with the book completion but it was really dark. To witness someone you love paralyzed and helpless on a daily basis is really a challenge. In addition to that, there was all of the physical work required after working a 10 hour day with challenging youths..Irina

Have you ever had an imaginary friend?

Yes, as a child I had a bendable dinosaur; I set him on the back of a milk truck bumper at a store across the street from our house …you see, there were ‘no pets allowed’ .. when I came back out, the truck was gone and so was my dinosaur…60 years later, I still miss that little guy. Jo-An

Yes I did. It was a black panther. She was protecting me on the streets following me around and she could talk. That is why I adore cats. They are small panthers..Irina

Do you have any phobias?

No, but I don’t like speed or high places with ledges. Jo-An

Oh yes—spiders. I’m trying to convince myself that the majority of them are harmless but it’s not working. How can anything with 8 legs not be scary?..Irina

Ever broken any bones?

Just my foot, in a cast for 8 weeks..Jo-An

No. I was lucky even when I did what I considered, some dangerous sports like horseback riding and water-skiing. .Irina

Welcome to Ourea, where only the cunning survive.

Excerpt
Kara Magari pushed her way down an unkempt trail in the Rocky Mountains, its trees hunching and swaying overhead as she crunched her way along the rotting foliage that served as a carpet. The canopy grew steadily thicker and swallowed the setting sunlight, casting a murky green glow over her pale skin as she hiked. Her hiker’s build made her look a year or two younger than she really was—a curse at twenty—but she knew she would be grateful for it someday.
She ran a hand through her blond hair as she examined the forest. This was a new path, one she found on the way back to her car after an early dinner at the visitor center. She bit her lip and scanned the empty forest. Even though there hadn’t been any empty beer cans or syringes littering the way, solo hiking on an unfamiliar trail was never safe. It would be dark in just a few hours.
She patted the side pocket of her backpack. The edges of her stun gun pushed against the cloth. Kara smirked—she would be fine.
Two minutes later, the footpath ended at a simple gazebo built from unpainted wood. Low-hanging branches hid half of its paneled roof, and a tree trunk on either side blocked the way around. Waist-high wooden railings surrounded most of the structure, but left a break in the fencing just wide enough to walk through. A path stretched from this opening across the gazebo to the other side, where yet another gap in the rails would let her through to the blinding daylight. Benches lined the miniature lane through the shelter.
The landscape on the other side was blurred and bright: a stark contrast to the heavy green glow of the forest, where only freckled rays of sunlight could break through the leaves. She narrowed her eyes as she got closer to the gazebo, but couldn’t distinguish anything through the sun’s sharp glare.
A plank of wood framed with odd carvings had been nailed to the space above the entrance, and she squinted in an effort to read the dull cuts and make out the word:
Lichgate.

When Japheth and Rose encounter each other, the battle is fierce and charged with desire. But when they discover a common enemy—the Prince of Thirst himself—they form a dangerous alliance that could either cost them their eternal lives, or spark a love more powerful than heaven or hell.

My Review:

Redemption is the second book in The Seven Signs Series.  Erica writing style is easily read.  It's one of those books that you can't put down.  I found myself staying up late at night just to read another page.  I enjoyed the fast paced plot.  Never at any time did I feel bored with the story or the characters.

Since I don't like to spoil the read for others, I won't do a synopsis of the book.  I will say that I'm loving the world of tainted angels.  The characters, Japheth and Rose, were well developed.  I connected to both characters and felt their emotions.  This is what makes a good book, a great book! I really enjoyed the sexual tension between the characters.

Pick up this book and start reading.  You won't be disappointed.

The author provided me with a copy of the book for an honest review.

BLURB:

Book two in The Earth Angels

Feel nothing. Sara Savitch's personal mantra has been hard to live by ever since her torrid one-night stand with army doctor Gideon Mandeville. Descended from the Seraphim, angels known as heaven's soldiers, Sara may be an expert fighter, but she's an amateur when it comes to relationships.

Physically unharmed, but still battle-scarred, Gideon has returned to Dallas in the hopes of regaining his faith in humanity—and in himself. Instead he's walked into a nightmare. His father is on a serial killer's hit list, and has hired a personal bodyguard—the very woman who has haunted Gideon's dreams for a year.

As Sara works to build an impenetrable fortress around her client, she yearns to tear down the one around Gideon's heart. With his bitter rejection of warriors, will he ever be able to accept her true nature? Sara must find a way to trust Gideon with her secret as the killer closes in…

Interview with Stacy Gail:

1.      You must be thrilled with the release of Savage Angel (Earth Angel #2). With this series, each book focuses on a different set of main characters. Is writing a series in the same world but with different characters easier or more complex than writing a series with the same main characters?
SG: Oooh, good question! Every series has its own challenges. Using different characters for each new book is time-consuming, as I take the time to do full character outlines before plunging into the story, so it’s a bit like starting over every time.  But I’m currently working on a trilogy that follows a set of characters throughout, and the challenge there is consistency.  I’ve fallen to relying on a “character bible” to make sure I’ve got the backgrounds/appearances/quirks down solid.

2.      What interesting scenes did you edit out of Savage Angel?
SG: Luckily I didn’t have to!  I did, however, add the scene where Sara loses her temper and accidentally melts her glass desk, thanks to her Seraphim-fueled powers.  Let me tell you, that was fun. :D

3.      In Savage Angel, Gideon returns home from military duty and seems to experiences symptoms associated with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Of course, there has been a lot of media coverage on the topic of the US soldiers, the war and PTSD. How did this media coverage influence Gideon's character development?
SG: Actually, it didn’t (great question, btw!). One of my best friends is a psychologist who works with veterans returning from the front lines (and yeah, there are times when it really tears her up inside).  I’m her skating coach, so I’m sort of like her therapy, if that makes sense.  Even though she helped tons with the research for SAVAGE ANGEL, I dedicated Book 3 to her, WOUNDED ANGEL, because that’s the book where I really relied on her psychological expertise.  I go to some very dark places in WOUNDED, and I needed her knowledge to make sure my characters made it out of that darkness together, and in a believable, healthy manner.

4.      On your blog, you describe yourself as someone who is "known to spontaneously burst into song". If you happened to spontaneously burst into song now, what song would we hear?
SG: I try to belt stuff out like Sarah Brightman’s “Time To Say Good-Bye”.  The problem is, I’m not Sarah Brightman. *coughs*

5.      Have you ever been so blown away with a book that it actually changed your perspective on writing? If so, what book and how did it change your perspective?
SG: I think I have to tip my hat to Nora Roberts on this one.  When I was around twelve or so, I snagged a copy of Island of Flowers of my grandmother’s nightstand and read it in a single day.  I think that was the day the seed of wanted to become a romance writer was planted.

6.      I love and never miss some television shows, such as The Middle, Modern Family, and The Walking Dead. What about you? What shows do you never miss?
SG:  The Big Bang Theory, Once Upon A Time and Downton Abbey are my guilty pleasures!  I think next season for DA, I’m going to have a formal tea party for the season opener.  I’m already collecting ideas on Pinterest for that, actually. *laughs*  I’m such a dork.

7.      As an author, you do lots of interviews to promote your books. What question would you most like for someone to ask you?
SG:  You’re about to ask it (it’s question #8 – good job! *thumbs up*)

8.      Final question. Tell us about your next project.
SG:  Yay, I’m so glad you asked! (^See what I mean? :D :D :D)  I’ve already mentioned WOUNDED ANGEL, releasing May 27th from Carina Press, and last month I sent off the final book, DANGEROUS ANGEL to my editor.  I’m now working on A CRAVING FOR COOKIES, a holiday novella, and I think I’ve gained five pounds just writing this thing.  Seriously, my cookie-craving has gone through the freaking roof.  Somebody help me! :(

Thanks for the interview!
SG:  Thank YOU so much for allowing me to bounce onto your blog today for this fabulous chat.  I had a great time, and if it’s okay, I’d like to ask your readers what THEY’D like to ask me.  If they post their questions below, they’ll be entered to win a GC giveaways!

About the Author:

A competitive figure skater from the age of eight, Stacy Gail began writing stories in between events to pass the time. By the age of fourteen, she told her parents she was either going to be a figure skating coach who was also a published romance writer, or a romance writer who was also a skating pro. Now with a day job of playing on the ice with her students, and writing everything from steampunk to cyberpunk, contemporary to paranormal at night, both dreams have come true.
